Wishing WellGardens & Landscaping

What we do

Everything a garden needs, one Solihull team.

From driveways and patios to decking, new lawns, fencing, garden structures, lighting, walls and greenhouses — Wishing Well Gardens & Landscaping covers it in-house across Solihull and Warwickshire, with Richard leading every job and a multi-skilled team behind him.

01Service

Driveway & Patio Paving

Paving is the frame the rest of the garden is built around, and it's where cutting corners shows first. We lay block paving, porcelain, natural stone and Indian stone paving for driveways, patios, walkways, terraces and forecourts — bedded on a properly prepared base and laid to falls that drain, so it sits level and stays put through the winters rather than sinking and rocking a few years on. Richard surveys the ground first so the build-up underneath is right for the job it has to do.

02Service

Hard Landscaping

Our multi-skilled team delivers the structural, load-bearing side of a garden: garden walls in brick, stone or concrete, retaining walls that hold ground on a sloping plot, raised beds, and concrete slab bases for outbuildings, sheds and hot tubs. It's the groundwork most of a project depends on and the part you never see once it's finished — built on proper foundations so what sits on top of it lasts.

03Service

Decking Design & Installation

A deck turns an awkward level or a tired corner into somewhere you actually spend time. We design and install composite decking — resistant to rot, warping, splintering and insects, and available in a range of colours for low-maintenance living — as well as traditional timber decking for a natural look. Every deck is built square and weathertight, and we handle the steps, ramps and built-in seating areas that make it work as an outdoor room rather than just a platform.

04Service

New Lawns

A new lawn is the quickest way to change how a whole garden reads. We install artificial grass — low maintenance, kinder to allergy sufferers and saving water all summer — and lay rolled turf for a natural finish, both on fully prepared ground. The preparation is what makes the difference: level the base, get the drainage and the edges right, and the lawn sits flat and true instead of dipping and puddling.

05Service

Fencing, Gates & Structures

We install the full range of fencing — privacy screens, residential, security, panel, feather edge, close-board and decorative — along with timber and metal gates to match. Beyond the boundary, our team builds custom garden structures: sheds, pergolas, gazebos, garden rooms, summer houses and playhouses, made to suit the plot and finished to last. Whether you're after privacy, security or somewhere new to sit, it's all handled by one team.

06Service

Garden Lighting Design

The right lighting turns a garden you only use by day into one you enjoy after dark, and adds real security around the house. We design and install path lights, spotlights, floodlights and security lighting, planned around how you move through and look out over the garden — highlighting the planting and structures you want to see, lighting the routes you actually use, and keeping the darker corners covered.

07Service

Garden Walls & Raised Beds

Walls give a garden its bones — dividing space, holding ground and framing the planting. We build ornamental and functional walls in brick, stone or concrete, from a low feature wall to a retaining structure that makes a sloping plot usable. Raised growing beds, built to match, bring the planting up to a workable height and keep borders sharp and contained, whether they're decorative or productive.

08Service

Greenhouses

A greenhouse is only as good as the base it sits on. We supply and install greenhouse structures and — because we're landscapers first — get the groundwork right underneath, laying a level, well-drained base so the frame stands square, the doors run true and the glass sits safely for years. A natural pairing with our raised beds and kitchen-garden work for anyone who wants to grow their own.

Materials & finishes

Chosen to last, not just to look good on day one.

Good landscaping is as much about the base you don't see as the surface you do. Here is what we tend to reach for, and why.

Block paving & natural stone

Block paving, natural stone and Indian stone laid for driveways, patios, walkways and forecourts — bedded on a properly prepared base and laid to falls that drain, so the surface stays level and doesn’t sink or rock over the years.

Porcelain paving

Hard-wearing, low-maintenance porcelain for a crisp, contemporary patio or path — near-zero staining and colour-stable through the seasons, ideal where you want a clean modern finish that stays that way.

Composite & timber decking

Composite decking that resists rot, warping, splintering and insects, in a range of colours for low-maintenance living, alongside traditional timber decking — built square and weathertight with steps, ramps and seating.

Artificial grass & rolled turf

Low-maintenance, allergen-reducing, water-saving artificial grass, or natural rolled turf — both laid on fully prepared, free-draining ground so the lawn sits flat and true rather than dipping and puddling.

How it works

Survey, build, guaranteed — one team.

The full process

01

Free site survey & quote

Richard comes out, walks the plot with you and listens to how you actually want to use it — sun, slope, drainage, access, the lot. Then we put a clear plan and an itemised price to it, explaining what's needed, how we'd carry the job out, the timescale and the cost, with no obligation to go ahead. Clients regularly note how well the job is explained before a spade goes in.

02

Build & installation

Our multi-skilled team carries the whole build — groundwork and levels, paving and walling, decking, fencing, turf or artificial grass, structures and lighting. We're punctual, tidy and explain each stage before it happens, taking real pride in the finish. Where a scheme brings several trades together, they all sit under one team, so you're not chasing separate contractors.

03

Finished, guaranteed & looked after

We leave the site clean and the work guaranteed for your peace of mind, and we're insured throughout. A garden built to last still rewards a little care, so we're happy to come back — the reason so many of our clients are repeat clients, and why our gallery keeps filling with local work.

Before you call

Questions we're asked most.

Do you charge for a site survey or quote?

No. The site survey and itemised quote are free and come with no obligation. Richard walks the garden with you, listens to how you want to use it, then explains what's needed, the method, the timescale and the cost so you know exactly where you stand.

Will I actually deal with Richard, or a salesperson?

Richard. The business has been family-run since 2004 and he leads every job himself — which is why clients name him personally in review after review. There's no sales layer between you and the person doing the work.

Is your work guaranteed, and are you insured?

Yes to both. Our work is guaranteed for your peace of mind and we're fully insured throughout — part of why so many local families have us back for the next job.

How do I know the paving is built to last?

We lay paving on a properly prepared, consolidated base and to correct falls, so driveways, patios and paths drain and sit level rather than sinking and rocking a few years on. We rebuilt one client's sinking patio doing exactly that.

Do you only do big projects, or smaller jobs too?

Both. We take on full transformations, but also single patios, walls, fencing runs, artificial grass and bases for sheds, greenhouses and hot tubs. Plenty of clients start with one job and have us back for the next.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Shirley, Solihull and cover more than 26 locations across Solihull, Kenilworth, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Redditch, Coventry and the surrounding villages. Not sure you're in range? Give Richard a call.

Not sure what the garden needs?

That's what the free site survey is for. Richard will walk the garden with you, tell you straight what's involved, and put a clear plan and price to it.
